Massage Therapy
About our massage Therapists
Ramona Hester, LMBT nc#2954 and Susan Hughes, LMBT nc#2937 offer a distinctive massage style that blends techniques from Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sports and Shiatsu.  With a combined experience of 14 years in the massage field, they are focused and fluid with an acute attention to the clients comfort and a profound understanding of anatomy.

The amount of stress we are exposed to in today’s world is often extreme and overwhelming.  We can only go for so long before our body “catches up” to us and we experience pain or illness.  This is our body’s way of forcing us to give it much needed rest and time to heal from the daily rigors we put it through.

Proven to reduce the harmful effects of stress, massage therapy may be your most valuable stress management tool.  A growing body of
research shows massage therapy can be an effective part of pain relief and management.   Experienced with Workers Compensation and Auto Liability  billing we are willing to work with your health care provider’s prescription to help alleviate your discomfort.

Massage Therapy can help alleviate these conditions:

  • Headaches
  • Chronic neck pain
  • Repetitive stress injuries
  • Anxiety
  • Low back pain
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Stress
  • Muscle strains
  • Postural imbalances
  • Whiplash
  • Muscle spasms
  • Sports injuries

Massage Facts:

  • Clothing Optional:  Although a massage is best performed on bare skin, if you can’t disrobe completely, leave on your undergarments.  NC State law requires that your therapist properly drape you at all times and our own personal ethics demand that we pay careful attention to your privacy.  Bathing suits are appropriate for the more modest client.
  • Session Length:  Most massages last about one hour but 30 minute and 90 minute sessions are available.
  • Touch.  Massages range from a light, feathery touch to firm, deep-tissue massage.  If at any time your therapist does anything that makes you uncomfortable, please immediately inform her.
  • Method: With the lights dim and soft music playing, your body is covered with a sheet and if needed, a blanket.  When the therapist is ready to work a specific body part (such as an arm or leg) the sheet is draped to expose that part only.  Draping is required by NC State law.
  • Preparation:  To prepare yourself for massage you should plan to do the following:
    1. Arrive at least 10 minutes before your session
    2. Drink a full glass of water 1-2 hours before your session
    3. Turn off your cell phone
    4. Leave your cares outside of the door and Enjoy!

Afterwards:  Plan to relax today.  Most people feel very relaxed after their massage and may even be sleepy.  Enjoy this state of mind and body.

Drink plenty of fluid; preferably water, to help further flush out toxins from the muscles that have been worked.

  • Schedule another appointment.  Your body has an innate sense of recognition.  This allows for a deeper state of relaxation to be achieved in subsequent massages and because of this the therapeutic results are further increased.

  • Think of Massage Therapy as maintenance work for your body and not just a luxury.  Massage can be an important component of your goal for increased wellness.  Share your experience with your friends and family.
